Job Duties
Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for an Assistant Baseball Coach. The candidate will be responsible for all facets of conducting a successful NCAA Division I Baseball program.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• On-the-field coaching during practice and competition.
• Recruit student-athletes to be outstanding cadets and outstanding contributors to the sports program.
• Game preparation, formulation and implementation of pre-and post-season conditioning programs.
• Knowledge of and proper execution of VMI, Conference, and NCAA rules.
• Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the VMI Baseball Team.
• Provide leadership and instruction in terms of the personal and athletic development of cadet athletes at VMI.
• Must be able to study, evaluate and implement innovations in baseball strategy, and demonstrate professional integrity.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Knowledge of academic rules for eligibility.
• Knowledge of and adherence to safe practices associated with coaching the sport.
• Effective interpersonal and communication (oral, written, listening) skills.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, sound judgement, and discretion in all areas of work.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, required.
• Must have a baseball coaching experience.
• Must possess the ability to recruit in Virginia and the surrounding states.
Additional Considerations
Prefer experience coaching collegiate age or younger elite level athletes in baseball.
