Job description

Job Title: Graphic Designer
Location: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Anticipated Start Date: September 2026
Position Summary
GD Resources is seeking two experienced Graphic Designers to support hospital communications at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The Graphic Designers will create compelling visual products that communicate medical, military, public-health, and command information to patients, staff, senior leaders, and external audiences.
Successful candidates will manage design projects from initial concept through final production and approval while maintaining Walter Reed, Defense Health Agency, and Department of Defense brand and communication standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design command publications, reports, brochures, posters, patient-education materials, public-health campaigns, environmental graphics, digital signage, infographics, presentations, and social media content.
  • Translate complex medical, scientific, and organizational information into clear and accessible visual products.
  • Manage multiple design projects, schedules, priorities, stakeholder reviews, and production deadlines.
  • Develop design concepts in collaboration with writers, editors, photographers, videographers, public affairs personnel, and subject-matter experts.
  • Prepare files for print, digital publication, web, social media, and other communication platforms.
  • Create and edit photographic, video, and multimedia assets when required.
  • Maintain consistency with applicable brand standards and visual identity requirements.
  • Present concepts and completed products to stakeholders and leadership for review and approval.
  • Protect HIPAA, PHI, and other sensitive information in all visual products.
  • Support urgent, high-visibility, event-driven, and crisis-communication requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional graphic-design experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating branding, print and digital layout, and infographic or data-visualization capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of print production, prepress requirements, and digital-file preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several concurrent projects and meet firm deadlines.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required Government facility, CAC, network, and background-investigation access.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting healthcare, military, federal government, or another regulated organization.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, motion graphics, photography, or video editing.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility and federal communication standards.
  • Previous experience protecting HIPAA and PHI in visual communications.

Work Requirements
The position is primarily performed on-site, Monday through Friday. Occasional support outside normal working hours may be required for special events, emergencies, or contingency operations.
