Full Time Balance Engineer information

What is a full time balance engineer?

A Full Time Balance Engineer is a professional responsible for ensuring that systems, such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), are properly balanced to deliver optimal performance and efficiency. Their primary tasks involve testing, adjusting, and balancing air and water flow in building systems. This ensures that each area of a facility receives the correct amounts of heating or cooling as designed. They typically work on-site throughout the construction or commissioning process and may be involved in troubleshooting and maintaining systems post-installation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time balance engineer?

A Full Time Balance Engineer typically needs a strong background in engineering principles, data analysis, and understanding of system dynamics, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with simulation software, balancing tools, and industry-specific systems such as CAD or MATLAB is usually required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication are critical soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure that engineered systems are optimized for performance, safety, and reliability, which is vital for operational success.

How does a full time balance engineer typically interact with other departments during the game development cycle?

As a Full Time Balance Engineer, collaboration with other departments—such as design, analytics, and quality assurance—is essential. You’ll frequently work with game designers to understand intended mechanics and player experiences, and with data analysts to interpret gameplay data for informed balancing decisions. Regular meetings and feedback sessions help ensure that balance changes align with both creative goals and player expectations. This cross-functional teamwork is key to maintaining a fair and engaging game environment.

What is the difference between Full Time Balance Engineer vs Mechanical Balance Technician?

AspectFull Time Balance EngineerMechanical Balance Technician
CredentialsBachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, certifications like CWT or CWT+High school diploma or technical training, certifications like CWT or equivalent
Work EnvironmentDesign offices, manufacturing plants, testing facilitiesManufacturing floors, maintenance workshops, testing labs
Industry UsageUsed in aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectors for precision balancingCommon in manufacturing and maintenance for equipment balancing

Full Time Balance Engineers focus on designing and analyzing balancing systems, often requiring higher education and specialized certifications. Mechanical Balance Technicians perform hands-on balancing tasks, typically with technical training. Both roles are essential in manufacturing and industry, but the engineer role emphasizes design and analysis, while technicians focus on practical application and maintenance.

What engineering job has the best work-life balance?

Full Time Balance Engineers typically focus on optimizing work schedules and processes to promote work-life balance, often involving standard hours and minimal overtime. Generally, engineering roles with predictable hours, such as civil or environmental engineering, tend to offer better work-life balance compared to roles with high urgency or on-call requirements. Factors like company culture and project deadlines also influence work-life balance in engineering jobs.

Job description

Process Design Engineer Augusta, Georgia, United States, Full-Time

Manus works across industries and value chains to accelerate the transition to BioAlternatives – better performing and more sustainable versions of complex molecules traditionally sourced from plants, animals, or fossil fuels. Our platform is proven to work across scales, bridging the Valley of Death between lab and manufacturing more efficiently and more reliably to deliver the benefits of synthetic biology today. We are seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual for a position that will specialize in and lead all laboratory operations at our Boston BioFacility.

We are seeking a highly motivated Process Design Engineer to assist with design of new processes, optimization of existing processes, capital projects, recommissioning, and startup. The ideal candidate will have expertise process design (conceptual development, line sizing, equipment sizing, mass & energy balances), process engineering (optimization, instrumentation, and data collection), engineering documentation (EFDs, PFDs, P&IDs, isometric drawings, dimensional drawings, document control, etc.), and process safety. This hands-on position requires a desire and ability to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as the demonstration of a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and initiative applied to the various duties and aspects of the position. This person will be expected to play an integral part of Manus Bio’s team located in Augusta, GA

  • Troubleshooting design issues.
  • Preparation of detailed engineering reports.
  • Preparation of “as-built” drawing markups based on input or physical walk downs of systems.
  • Work with Process Development teams to ensure appropriate lab experiments are performed and data is collected, that processes are appropriately scaled up to the pilot plant, and that necessary pilot data is collected.
  • Assist with full scale-up of pilot processes.
  • Assist with identifying plant material balances, capacity evaluations, area/plant yields, and KPIs that should be monitored and reported.
  • When necessary, assist with specification and procurement of appropriate equipment, instrumentation, and materials.
