Job description

Hearth & Home Technologies is looking for a Human Resources Service Center Specialist to join our team onsite in Mt Pleasant, IA or Lake City, MN. We are the nation’s leading manufacturer and supplier of hearth products, including a wide variety of gas, electric, wood and pellet burning fireplaces, inserts, stoves, and accessories. Headquartered in Lakeville, Minnesota, with distribution around the world, our innovative approach is supported by a business unit structure that allows us to develop and market products with a strong focus on customers’ needs.  Since 1996, we’ve been dedicated to connecting people through the warmth and comfort of our hearth products.

Reporting to the Human Resources Service Center Manager, the Human Resources Service Center Specialist is a key support professional to our human resources business partner team employees. This role requires a systematic approach to executing detailed activities in a fast-paced environment, including process administration, leave management, HR systems maintenance, and employee relations support. It’s a perfect opportunity for those who pursue operational excellence and desire to participate in broader HR project teams and drive process improvement.

This onsite position may be located at our Mt. Pleasant, IA or Lake City, MN facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain HR Systems, including Kronos, ADP, and Achievers
  • Review and process data entry requests from onsite HR teams
  • Ensure member data integrity by handling initial entry and conducting routine audits
  • Oversee the entire life cycle of leave of absence, from member request to return to work
  • Interpret documentation to certify or deny leave requests in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to handle members in various emotional states; collaborate with MCR and Legal as needed for follow-up and involvement
  • Enter and audit daily timekeeping entries and pay codes, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
  • Program and administer timekeeping-related programs, such as short-term disability, holiday scheduling, PTO, and Workers Compensation
  • Support service requests and system enhancements for ADP and Kronos
  • Partner with MCR and management as subject matter expert to provide guidance on policies, procedures, employment laws, and government regulations
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Propose system design changes and upgrades based on user needs and efficiency, which may involve research and testing
  • Identify and communicate risks during system/program updates, providing recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Troubleshoot application errors and conduct root cause analysis to identify process and system fixes with appropriate urgency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in Human Resources or related field, with a combination of education and work experience totaling 3–6 years
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle escalated and sensitive employee relations situations with diplomacy, tact, and professionalism
  • Good judgment to research, analyze, and recommend solutions consistent with policies, laws, and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate pivot tables, apply complex formulas, analyze data sets, and generate reports to support decision-making
  • Experience with FMLA, employment law, and compliance with government regulations
  • Familiarity with HRIS, and timekeeping systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
