Position Summary

The Automotive Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the repair shop while creating an exceptional customer experience and achieving sales and profitability goals.

This position leads the service advisors and technicians, oversees workflow, maintains shop efficiency, coaches team members, and ensures repairs are completed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can motivate a team, develop employees, build customer trust, and drive business growth.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop service advisors and technicians

  • Drive sales while maintaining an outstanding customer experience

  • Schedule and manage shop workflow for maximum productivity

  • Monitor daily sales, labor, gross profit, and key performance indicators

  • Review repair recommendations for accuracy and value

  • Ensure repairs are completed safely, correctly, and on time

  • Hire, train, and develop team members

  • Maintain inventory and control operating expenses

  • Build relationships with fleet customers and local businesses

  • Handle customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly

  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards

  • Perform opening and closing manager responsibilities

  • Create a positive team culture focused on accountability, communication, and results

Qualifications
  • Previous experience as an Automotive Service Manager, Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, Service Advisor, or similar leadership role

  • Automotive repair industry experience required

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities

  • Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to educate customers—not pressure them

  • Ability to read repair orders and understand vehicle maintenance recommendations

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Basic computer proficiency and point-of-sale experience

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certifications are a plus

  • Experience with shop management software

  • Experience managing technicians and service advisors

  • Fleet account management experience

Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing

  • Ability to safely operate customer vehicles

  • Comfortable working in both office and shop environments
