Ancora Engineering + Architecture is a multidisciplinary design firm providing consulting services to the construction industry throughout the New York metropolitan area and across the United States. Our team provides practical, technically sound solutions for complex projects involving demolition, structural design, geotechnical engineering, remediation, alterations, temporary structures, and special inspections.


Position Overview

Ancora is seeking an experienced CAD Technician III with strong AutoCAD skills and experience preparing technical drawings for construction and engineering projects. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with engineers, architects, contractors, and other project team members.

Experience with NYC Department of Buildings requirements and Chapter 33 of the NYC Building Code is strongly preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for engineering, construction, demolition, structural, and alteration projects.
  • Develop and maintain accurate construction drawing sets and project documentation.
  • Incorporate engineer and architect redlines, field measurements, sketches, and review comments.
  • Assist with drawings related to temporary structures, scaffolding, sidewalk sheds, and other construction conditions as needed.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to document existing and field conditions.
  • Coordinate drawings with engineers, architects, contractors, and other project team members.
  • Prepare drawings for permitting, construction, and as-built documentation.
  • Maintain drawing libraries, templates, and drafting standards.
  • Perform quality-control reviews to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and consistent with project requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional AutoCAD 2D experience in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Strong ability to produce accurate technical and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with NYC Building Code and DOB requirements; knowledge of Chapter 33 is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with construction, demolition, structural, or architectural drawings.
  • Experience with temporary structures or construction equipment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, field sketches, and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
