Job Title: AutoCAD Drafter โ Commercial Glass
Job Description
This full-time AutoCAD Drafter role focuses on producing precise technical drawings and construction documents for commercial glass projects in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, designers, and field personnel to transform sketches, field measurements, and engineering specifications into accurate plans, elevations, details, and as-built drawings. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and takes pride in maintaining high drafting standards.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D AutoCAD drawings, including plans, sections, details, and layouts for commercial, industrial, and construction projects.
- Develop construction and fabrication drawings from sketches, markups, field notes, and engineering specifications.
- Maintain and apply drawing standards, including layer management, title blocks, and document control procedures.
- Incorporate redline revisions accurately and ensure all drawing updates are clearly documented.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and field personnel to gather and clarify project requirements.
- Produce accurate as-built drawings that reflect completed installations and field changes.
- Verify dimensions, quantities, and overall drawing accuracy prior to releasing documents for use.
- Assist in preparing permit, bid, and construction document packages as needed.
- Organize, update, and maintain project files and drawing databases to ensure easy access and version control.
- Support multiple concurrent projects while meeting established schedules and deadlines.
- Apply commercial glass construction knowledge to ensure drawings align with industry practices and project specifications.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience within commercial glass constrction.
- OR Associateโs degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing.
- Experience with commercial glass and commercial glass construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, drafting standards, and technical documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in all drawings.
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple projects and files.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience creating as-built drawings for completed installations.
- Knowledge of BIM, Revit, Civil 3D, or Navisworks.
- Familiarity with construction means, methods, and terminology.
- Experience working in a fast-paced project environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, designers, and field personnel.
- Strong communication skills for clarifying requirements and resolving drawing issues.
