OverviewThe Manager, Media & AV is responsible for the planning, delivery, and ongoing support of enterprise audio-visual services across classrooms, conference rooms, collaboration spaces, and event venues. This role provides strategic leadership and hands-on oversight of AV operations, vendor integrations, lifecycle management, and service delivery to ensure high-quality, reliable user experience.
The Manager, Media & AV partners closely with IT, Facilities, Academic/Business units, and external vendors to standardize AV platforms, manage upgrades, and align AV solutions with organizational goals.

This is an exempt position with the following pay range: $114,525 - $127,250; the role is also eligible for bonuses based on performance and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise AV roadmap, standards, and lifecycle strategy across all supported spaces.
  • Define and maintain AV design standards, room typologies, and technology reference architectures.
  • Align AV services with collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Webex) and enterprise IT standards.
  • Develop and manage AV budgets, forecasts, and capital planning; evaluate emerging AV technologies and recommend investments; and oversee budgeting, procurement, and inventory management for AV and media technology assets.
  • Drive continuous improvement of AV reliability, usability, and user satisfaction.
  • Manage AV integrators, service providers, and technology vendors. Oversee contracts, SOWs, renewals, and performance against deliverables.
  • Ensure high-quality support for College events, guest lectures, board meetings, commencement, and hybrid programs with AV requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day AV operations, including incident response, proactive maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Manage and mentor AV technicians, engineers, and/or contractors. Define roles, responsibilities, on-call support, and training plans. Ensure staff remain current on AV platforms, standards, and best practices. Foster a service-oriented, customer-focused team culture.
  • Establish SLAs, support models, and escalation paths for AV services.
  • Ensure consistent documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles for supported systems.
  • Lead AV projects including new builds, renovations, refreshes, and major upgrades.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.   
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in AV/media services leadership; and a minimum of 5 years managing staff and a budget.
  • Deep technical knowledge of AV systems design, signal flow, control systems (e.g., Crestron, Cisco), and digital media workflows.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Strong project management skills with experience delivering large-scale AV or media infrastructure projects.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with budget development, vendor negotiation, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, event planners, and executive leadership.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles for media and classroom technology.
  • Must have deep technical expertise, operational excellence, and a strong service orientation to support Babson’s dynamic and evolving learning and engagement environments.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

  • Requires work onsite a minimum of 3 days a week (some flexibility for hybrid based on operational needs); the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need. 
  • May require evening and weekend support for campus events or AV system maintenance.
  • This role includes on call responsibilities.
  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor meetings, site assessments, or professional development.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

  • Experience in higher education or similarly complex environments.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, lecture capture platforms (e.g., Canvas, Panopto, Cisco), and streaming technologies.
  • Experience integrating AV systems with enterprise IT infrastructure and security protocols.
