Title : Audio Lab Technician on W2
Location : San Jose, CA --ONSITE
Duration: Contract or Contract to Hire

Overview
As an Audio Lab & Perceptual Studies Technician, you will provide critical hands-on support for a team developing next-generation consumer electronics. Your primary focus is the execution of audio tests and the maintenance of specialized lab environments. You will be responsible for the physical setup of audio chambers, the assembly of custom cabling, and the day-to-day coordination of human-based perceptual studies. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys a mix of technical troubleshooting, hardware assembly, and study administration.
Overall Responsibilities
  • Test Execution: Perform standardized manual and automated audio tests for playback and capture following established protocols.
  • Lab Maintenance: Manage the daily operations of the audio lab, including hardware inventory, software license tracking, and equipment calibration.
  • Study Coordination: Support senior engineers by booking assessors, managing test schedules, and ensuring the perceptual test environment is ready for participants.
  • Hardware Assembly: Fabricate custom cables, connectors, and looms; install and secure test fixtures within audio chambers.
  • Data Collection: Record and document test results accurately, ensuring all bugs and anomalies are captured in the tracking system for engineering review.
  • Lab Support: Maintain test equipment hardware and software; perform basic audio mixing and sound design tasks for test stimuli as directed.
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities
  1. Lab Readiness: Set up and calibrate environments for live perceptual audio studies and automated/manual acoustic measurements.
  2. Audio Capture: Perform high-fidelity audio recordings of consumer devices using standardized microphones and testing software.
  3. Technical Support: Fabricate necessary interconnections (cabling/panels) and troubleshoot studio or lab equipment to minimize downtime.
