Required Work Schedule: (not a remote or hybrid position)
- Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Rotating Saturday: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, members, and Credit Union property. This role monitors security concerns, responds to incidents, and takes appropriate action to protect individuals and facilities while ensuring compliance with established security procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Patrol Credit Union facilities and parking areas, maintaining a visible security presence.
  • Monitor and respond to security threats, incidents, and safety concerns involving employees, members, and visitors.
  • Control facility access and assist with employees, visitors, and vehicle entry and departure.
  • Support investigations, retrieve surveillance footage, and complete incident reports.
  • Assist with emergency response, trespasser removal, and incident management in accordance with legal protocols.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of member information and interactions.
  • Attend required meetings and training, meet assigned deadlines, and stay current on policies and procedures.
  • Provide support at other Credit Union locations and adjust schedules as needed to meet operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Expertise in security operations with a requisite understanding of financial institution operations.
  • Must be certified to carry and operate a handgun or other approved firearm.
  • Must be skilled in the appropriate use of force and have the ability to swiftly respond to incidents and detain individuals when necessary.
  • Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with employees, members, and visitors.
  • Must be familiar with security technologies, including surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control mechanisms.
  • Must be able to actively patrol assigned location, interior and exterior, for long periods of time. Potentially up to 4 hours at a time and a total of 8 hours during a regular shift.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive in seeking professional growth, embracing both formal and informal development opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability to new responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented with a strong collaborative mindset, actively supporting team members and contributing to a positive and high-performing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform essential functions, actively patrol and secure the premises, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience requirements
  • HSD or GED
  • Two (2)year(s) of applicable experience required.
  • Graduation from the Albuquerque Police Academy, New Mexico State Law Enforcement Academy, or other equivalent law enforcement training.
  • Extensive (more than three (3) years) professional security experience may be substituted for graduation from a law enforcement academy.
  • Must maintain certification to carry and operate a handgun or other approved firearm.
