Purpose:
Jesuit education, also known as Ignatian education, is an approach to education inspired by the teachings and principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), a Catholic religious order. Jesuit education is known for its emphasis on intellectual rigor, moral and ethical development, and the holistic formation of individuals. Seattle Prep seeks a Computer Science and Geometry instructor, beginning August 2026. This is a 85% time position, with potential to increase to 100% over time. This position is eligible for full school benefits.
The Math Department at Seattle Prep strives to provide a high quality education in secondary mathematics, where students discover, develop, and apply their talents to the fullest. Our students are consistently encouraged to seek a conceptual understanding of mathematics and develop their problem-solving and reasoning skills as well as their ability to work cooperatively, think critically, and communicate precisely (in oral, written, and symbolic terms).
Essential Functions:
  • Teach one section of Computer Science and three sections of Geometry in the Math program. Responsible for curriculum development, assessment, classroom management, family communication
  • Engage fully in the life of the school: this includes supervision of students, participation in meetings, retreats, professional development, and all school masses and assemblies
  • Fulfill additional supervision duties of full-time teachers (e.g. study hall)

Minimum qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in English or a related field of study, and a minimum of two years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
  • All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to Prep's mission and values, especially as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Supportive of the mission of a Catholic, Jesuit high school and formation of the whole person
  • Expertise with a variety of teaching methodologies and ability to teach various courses and grade levels
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues
  • Willing participation in the co-curricular and Campus Ministry aspects of the school
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth
  • All employees must complete a criminal history background check and safe environment training upon hire and every 3 years

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's Degree in teaching, English, Writing, or related field of study is preferred
  • Five or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a high school, is preferred
  • Experience with Jesuit, Catholic education is preferred
  • Washington State Teaching Credential, or other appropriate certification is preferred

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $59,000 - $108,000 annually (85% time). Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
Our outstanding benefits package includes an allowance of $20,100 annually that may be applied to benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance and flexible spending account. Employees who do not elect insurance may choose to receive the benefits allowance as supplemental pay. Tuition remission, generous time off, sick leave, and a school-sponsored medical leave program are also significant parts of our benefits package.
