Job description

Description
Perform piping design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion under the direction of licensed professional engineer. Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial Facilities. Design piping components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Apply strong knowledge of commonly used piping engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the piping engineering services industry. Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. Performs stress analysis of critical piping systems using CAESAR II and AutoPIPE in compliance with ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) and EN 13480 (Industrial Metallic Piping) standards. Conducts detailed stress evaluations for piping systems interfacing with static equipment, pumps, heat exchangers, vertical vessels, and pressure safety valve (PSV) systems. Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. Supports procurement activities by preparing technical specifications and reviewing vendor submittals and data sheets for piping components, valves, expansion joints, and specialty items. Coordinates directly with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical inquiries, clarify scope, and ensure compliance with project requirements and design intent. Participate in construction site visits to provide field engineering support, address site questions, verify as-built conditions, and support installation and commissioning activities. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Up to 25% of domestic travel is required based on project needs. Multiple Positions Available.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus four (4) years of mechanical piping engineering experience.
Must have four (4) years of experience in each of the following:
  • Standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Engineering design software including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, and Plant 3d.
  • Engineering & Analysis Tools: CEASAR II, Nozzle Pro, AutoPIPE; ANSYS, AFT Fathom, Trane TRACE, HAP, and Psychrometric Analysis Suite.

Alternatively, the employer also accepts a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus three (3) years of mechanical piping engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of described experience.
Must have three (3) years of experience in each of the following:
  • Standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Engineering design software including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, and Plant 3d.
  • Engineering & Analysis Tools: CEASAR II, Nozzle Pro, AutoPIPE; ANSYS, AFT Fathom, Trane TRACE, HAP, and Psychrometric Analysis Suite.Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Up to 25% of domestic travel is required based on project needs.
