Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) is seeking a dynamic, experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead strategic water/wastewater initiatives in the western Pennsylvania market. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the expansion of WRA’s water/wastewater practice in the region, with the support of a respected, multi-disciplined A&E firm known for its technical excellence and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic growth of WRA’s water/wastewater practice in western Pennsylvania.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key regional clients, including Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN), Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA), and other local water and sewer authorities.
  • Identify, pursue, and manage water and wastewater projects from concept through completion.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering staff to support practice growth in the region.
  • Collaborate with WRA leadership and technical staff across offices to support firmwide growth initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans, establish practice goals, and drive execution.
  • Ensure high-quality project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to technical and regulatory standards.
  • Represent WRA in professional and community organizations, industry events, and client meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the state of Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state.
  • 11–15 years of progressive experience in water and/or wastewater engineering.
  • Proven success managing projects and client relationships in the western Pennsylvania region.
  • Experience working with ALCOSAN, PWSA, and regional water/sewer authorities.
  • Strong business development, proposal writing, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in team building, staff mentoring, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and offices.
