Are you a Red Seal Mechanic Journeyperson looking for stable, full-time work with a growing transit organization? To ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Keolis Canada’s transit fleet at Edmonton On Demand by performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and regulatory inspections on buses in accordance with company, transit and regulatory standards.

Primary work location: 4612 95 St, Edmonton, AB T6E 5Z6

Compensation and Employment Details:

  • Full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week.
  • Hourly wage: $43.71
  • Hourly Premium added on when assigned as Shop Lead
  • Benefits include dental, extended medical, disability, life insurance, RRSP (3%), and tool/boot allowances.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Certification in Commercial Transport/Truck & Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanics.
  • Will also consider, experienced Red Seal Automotive Service Technicians willing to train into bus and commercial vehicle maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical work experience.
  • Experience using computer diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and safe work practices.

 

Employment Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license of Class 5 or higher
  • CVIP license desired, or willing to obtain
  • Ability to work within safety policies and procedures.
  • Candidates must be willing to provide a 5-year abstract and complete a Criminal Record Check and Drug & Alcohol test.

 

Skills:

  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read service manuals in English.
  • Effective planning and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail in documentation.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Fleet Maintenance and Diagnostics

  • Perform daily and scheduled maintenance, inspections and repairs on the transit bus fleet.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic issues using tools and computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer, company and AB Transit standards.
  • Conduct government inspections (CVIP) and ensure vehicles meet all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond occasionally to onroad breakdowns or service calls and complete all associated repair and inspection documentation.

 

Shop Operations, Safety and Coordination

  • Work with Shop Management to maintain maintenance schedules, prioritize work orders and coordinate vehicle availability.
  • Follow company and AB Transit policies, procedures and guidelines, including OH&S rules and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment, including proper use of PPE, tools and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch and operators regarding vehicle status, safety concerns and completion timelines.

 

Training, Mentoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Suggest areas for additional training, new tools or improved procedures to enhance safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Assist with training and mentoring apprentices and less experienced technicians, sharing best practices and safe work methods.
  • Participate in company training programs and vendor or OEM training to stay current with new technologies and regulatory requirements.
