Job description

Steel City Collectibles is seeking a talented, self-motivating full-stack Laravel developer to help maintain and implement new features for existing applications already in production. Work with a small team in the fast-paced and ever-changing landscape of the emerging trading card field for one of the most trusted names in the industry. This is a full-time, on-site position located at our McKeesport, PA headquarters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design and implement end-to-end features within existing Laravel applications being used in production with performance, usability and security at the forefront
  • Refactor and update legacy code bases where necessary
  • Maintain third-party API implementations to account for upstream changes and deprecations
  • Self-motivation to bring new ideas to the team and suggest ways to improve user and developer experiences on existing applications
  • Willingness to conduct critical maintenance during off-peak hours on rare occasions
  • Communicate necessary infrastructure updates or outages with our managed hosting provider

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-6 years of full-stack PHP development, with a heavy focus on the Laravel framework
  • Proficient in front-end technologies, including Vue.js (or similar), CSS and HTML
  • Proficient in writing raw SQL queries to maximize performance
  • Ability to quickly diagnose bugs and performance bottlenecks in production code
  • Deep understanding of the Laravel ecosystem, including Eloquent, migrations, queues, middleware, caching (Redis) and supervisor
  • Experience consuming and implementing RESTful and SOAP API’s
  • Understanding of various authentication methods (OAuth, JWT, etc)
  • Experience with software package managers, including NPM and composer
  • Experience using git for source control in a team environment
  • Understanding of SEO concepts and front-end performance
