Full Stack Teaching Assistant information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Stack Teaching Assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Teaching Assistant, you need a solid understanding of both front-end and back-end web development, often with hands-on experience in languages like JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks such as React and Node.js. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), databases, and common learning management systems is typically required. Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help you effectively support students and collaborate with instructors. These abilities are crucial for providing technical guidance, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring student success in coding bootcamps or academic programs.

What is the difference between Full Stack Teaching Assistant vs Coding Instructor?

AspectFull Stack Teaching AssistantCoding Instructor
Required CredentialsTypically a background in computer science or related field, some certifications preferredOften requires teaching certifications or extensive coding experience
Work EnvironmentEducational institutions, coding bootcamps, online learning platformsEducational settings, coding bootcamps, workshops
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in academic and training environments to support studentsUsed to lead and deliver coding courses or workshops

While both roles involve teaching coding skills, a Full Stack Teaching Assistant primarily supports students in learning full stack development, often assisting instructors and providing hands-on help. A Coding Instructor leads classes, designs curriculum, and directly teaches coding concepts. The roles overlap in credentials and work environments but differ in responsibilities and leadership scope.

What are the main responsibilities of a Full Stack Teaching Assistant during a typical coding bootcamp session?

As a Full Stack Teaching Assistant in a coding bootcamp, your daily responsibilities include supporting students during lectures and hands-on coding activities, clarifying course material, and providing feedback on assignments. You'll collaborate closely with lead instructors to help design and deliver lessons, facilitate small group discussions or code reviews, and assist in troubleshooting technical issues students encounter. Additionally, you may help monitor student progress and provide one-on-one mentoring to ensure learners are keeping up with both front-end and back-end concepts. This role requires strong communication skills and a passion for helping others develop their coding abilities.

What are Full Stack Teaching Assistants?

Full Stack Teaching Assistants are professionals who support instructors and students in learning environments focused on full stack web development. They assist with both front-end and back-end technologies, help clarify concepts, provide feedback on assignments, and may lead lab sessions or office hours. Their role often involves troubleshooting code, mentoring students, and facilitating effective learning in coding bootcamps or educational programs.

Is full-stack worth it in 2026?

Full Stack Teaching Assistants are in demand as full-stack development skills remain valuable in 2026, especially with proficiency in frameworks like React or Node.js. The role often requires knowledge of both front-end and back-end technologies, making it a versatile position for those seeking to build comprehensive technical experience.

What is the most a teacher assistant can make?

The salary of a full stack teaching assistant varies depending on the institution, location, and experience, but generally ranges from $20,000 to $40,000 annually. In some cases, experienced teaching assistants or those working in specialized environments can earn higher wages or additional stipends, especially if they have certifications or advanced skills.

Where do teaching assistants make the most money?

Teaching assistants tend to earn higher salaries in regions with a higher cost of living and in private or specialized educational institutions. Salaries can also vary based on experience, education level, and certifications such as teaching assistant credentials or relevant training. Generally, urban areas and private schools offer higher pay compared to rural or public school settings.

Are full-stack devs still in demand?

Full-stack developers remain in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development, with skills in frameworks like React, Node.js, and databases being particularly valuable. Companies across industries seek these professionals for building and maintaining web applications, and demand is expected to continue as digital transformation accelerates.

Job description

Platform Engineering - New York City (On-site)
About the team
Altis is building the shared intelligence infrastructure venture capital has been missing - one that moves fast, sets the bar on quality, and helps top investors rise above the noise. We deliver institutional-grade diligence on Series A+ companies through decision-grade reports centered on the 3-5 Key Debates that matter. Backed by Primary Venture Partners and founded by operators from BCG, McKinsey, and top-tier venture, we combine expert human judgment with frontier AI.
Our small, high-ownership Platform Engineering team owns the full-stack systems and agentic workflows that power how diligence is delivered, consumed, queried, and acted upon at scale. We're looking for a full-stack AI engineer who ships production-grade intelligence platforms at 5-10ร— velocity.
In this role, you will:
  • Own end-to-end full-stack features across React/Next.js/TypeScript frontends, APIs, backend services, data pipelines, and observability that power report delivery, interactive Key Debates, search, subscriptions, and personalization.
  • Build scalable UI component libraries and design systems used daily by researchers, sector leads, and VC customers.
  • Ship AI-native diligence experiences: natural-language query interfaces, agentic synthesis tools, RAG-powered evidence finders, dynamic Bull/Bear explorers, and intelligent summarization that surfaces what actually matters for investment decisions.
  • Leverage frontier AI models and tools daily to prototype, code-review, generate tests, and iterate at extreme speed - turning ambiguous needs into production code in hours (including heavy daily use of assistants like Claude Code and Cursor).
  • Partner with analysts, sector directors, founders, and customers to translate complex market and founder analysis into clear, trustworthy experiences.
  • Define architecture standards and tooling so the platform remains reliable and built for power users making million- and billion-dollar decisions.

You might thrive in this role if you:
  • Are an AI-native engineer who lives and breathes frontier models and ships production features faster than most teams.
  • Have strong full-stack experience (React/Next.js/TypeScript + backend) and have shipped complex, data-rich platforms in enterprise SaaS, finance, research, or intelligence products.
  • Love turning dense, high-stakes information into elegant, AI-augmented interfaces that sophisticated users love.
  • Excel at rapid iteration in ambiguous, high-ownership environments where accuracy is non-negotiable.
  • Share our obsession with quality and building infrastructure that matures an entire asset class.

We are a tight-knit, in-person team in New York City. If you're excited to build the diligence layer venture capital has always needed - powered by the best of human expertise and frontier AI - we'd love to talk.
