Your responsibilities include the development of front-end and back-end coding, an understanding of different servers, networks, and hosting environments, how to use application program interfaces (API), and managing quality assurance. Education requirements for this career include a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Jobs as a full stack software developer are a good foundation for a career in IT.

What is the difference between Full Stack Software Developer vs Front End Developer?

Common UsageUsed in full project development, especially in startups and small teamsPrimarily involved in UI/UX design and front-end feature implementation

The main difference between a Full Stack Software Developer and a Front End Developer lies in their scope of work. Full Stack Developers handle both front-end and back-end development, enabling them to build complete applications. Front End Developers focus solely on creating engaging user interfaces. Your choice depends on whether you prefer working across the entire tech stack or specializing in user-facing features.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack software developer?

To thrive as a Full Stack Software Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, or Java) and a solid understanding of software development principles, often supported by a degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Strong problem-solving, effective communication, and collaboration skills help you stand out in multidisciplinary teams and dynamic environments. These capabilities are essential for building robust, scalable applications and ensuring smooth project delivery across the software development lifecycle.

How does a full stack software developer typically collaborate with designers and other team members during a project?

Full Stack Software Developers often work closely with UI/UX designers, backend engineers, and product managers throughout the development process. They participate in planning sessions to understand design requirements, provide technical feedback, and help translate user interface mockups into functional features. Regular meetings and collaborative tools are usually employed to ensure alignment and smooth communication, making it essential for developers in this role to be proactive and open in sharing progress or challenges. This cross-functional teamwork helps deliver cohesive, user-friendly applications that meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead within a cross-functional POD, translating product objectives into technical architecture, delivery priorities, and coordinated engineering execution.
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of full-stack software solutions supporting Cementing products and operations.
  • Design and develop scalable frontend applications, backend services, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native software platforms.
  • Establish technical direction across software engineering, data engineering, application architecture, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate technical work across disciplines, clarify solution approaches, review engineering output, and help remove delivery obstacles.
  • Partner with the Product Champion, Stream Lead, engineers, UX designers, automation specialists, and Cementing domain experts to deliver shared POD outcomes.
  • Establish and promote coding standards, architecture guidelines, testing practices, security requirements, and software-quality processes.
  • Design and optimize cloud-native, containerized, microservices-based, and distributed-system architectures.
  • Lead the development of scalable data pipelines, APIs, and data products supporting operational applications and analytics.
  • Drive the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools, modern engineering practices, and continuous-delivery methodologies.
  • Review solution architecture, software quality, security, scalability, reliability, and performance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Remain directly involved in software development while providing technical guidance, coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to engineers.
  • Promote shared ownership, rapid learning, technical innovation, reusable engineering practices, and knowledge sharing across the POD and Cementing Digital organization.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience, or 14 years of equivalent software development experience.
  • Extensive experience developing modern full-stack applications using frontend frameworks, backend services, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience designing cloud-native and containerized applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and modern application development methodologies.
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring software engineers.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through expertise, influence, coordination, mentoring, and hands-on delivery is required.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience building data platforms, data pipelines, or data products supporting software applications.
  • Experience working with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, or AI-assisted software development tools.
  • Experience delivering enterprise SaaS or industrial digital products using Agile methodologies.

Candidates with qualifications exceeding the minimum requirements may be considered for the Senior Technical Advisor - Software Development role based on experience, additional qualifications, and business needs.
