  • Pay: $75.00-80.00 /hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
Overview

The client is seeking a Senior Java Developer responsible for enhancing and supporting Java-based backend systems with a focus on Spring Reactor, Spring WebFlux, reactive programming, and cloud-hosted services. This role will help support and evolve service-layer applications, troubleshoot sustainment issues, and contribute to reactive Java development using Java 17, WebFlux, Reactor, MongoDB, and AWS/cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux, and Spring Reactor.
  • Build and support reactive REST APIs using Project Reactor, Mono, Flux, and WebFlux.
  • Analyze sustainment issues quickly and provide practical technical solutions.
  • Support and enhance service-layer applications in a cloud-hosted environment.
  • Work with MongoDB and understand considerations around reactive data access and blocking database behavior.
  • Collaborate with engineering teammates to support ongoing development, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer.
  • Promote best practices in code quality, CI/CD, testing, and production support.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to maintainable, reliable backend services.
  • Stay current on Java, Spring Reactor, WebFlux, and cloud-native development practices.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
  • Strong Java 17 experience.
  • Strong Spring Boot experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring WebFlux and Spring Reactor.
  • Experience building or supporting reactive applications using Mono and Flux.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API development and integration.
  • Ability to explain a real WebFlux application and the candidateโ€™s personal role in building or supporting it.
