Full Stack Qa Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack QA engineer?

A Full Stack QA Engineer needs a strong understanding of both front-end and back-end development, software testing methodologies, and proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications like ISTQB. Familiarity with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress), CI/CD systems, and version control platforms like Git is typically required. Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills help set individuals apart in this role. These combined abilities ensure robust quality assurance across all layers of software development, delivering reliable and user-friendly applications.

What is a full stack QA engineer?

A Full Stack QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of both front-end and back-end components of a software application. They design and execute test plans, automate testing processes, and collaborate with development teams to identify and resolve issues. Their role involves working with a variety of tools and technologies to conduct functional, performance, security, and integration testing. By covering the entire software stack, they help deliver reliable and fully tested applications.

What are some common challenges faced by full stack QA engineers, and how can they overcome them?

Full Stack QA Engineers often face the challenge of balancing comprehensive test coverage across both front-end and back-end systems while keeping up with rapid development cycles. Coordinating closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams is essential to ensure that new features are thoroughly tested without causing bottlenecks. Leveraging automated testing frameworks and maintaining a strong communication loop with the engineering team can help address these challenges effectively. Over time, mastering these approaches not only enhances product quality but also opens doors to roles in test automation architecture or QA leadership.

Is a full stack QA engineer still in demand?

Full Stack QA Engineers are still in demand as companies prioritize comprehensive testing across front-end and back-end systems. Skills in automation tools like Selenium and programming languages such as JavaScript or Python enhance employability in this role, especially in agile development environments.

Job description

QA Engineer
Where Medicine Meets Intelligence
Doctronic is the first AI legally authorized to practice medicine. We're processing millions of consultations monthly with 99%+ treatment plan accuracy validated by board-certified clinicians.
About the Role
We're looking for a QA Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of our AI-powered healthcare platform. You'll be responsible for testing critical user flows, validating AI diagnostic outputs, and maintaining the high standards our patients and clinicians depend on.
This role is crucial to our mission. When you're testing healthcare software, bugs aren't just inconvenient-they can impact real medical decisions. You'll build comprehensive test strategies that cover web, mobile, telehealth integrations, and AI model outputs, ensuring every release meets our quality bar.
What You'll Do
  • Own end-to-end testing for web and mobile applications, from onboarding flows to telehealth visits
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites that scale with our product velocity
  • Test AI diagnostic outputs for accuracy, consistency, and edge cases across medical conditions
  • Validate integrations with third-party systems including scheduling, video platforms, and enterprise APIs
  • Create and execute test plans for new features, working closely with product and engineering teams
  • Identify, document, and track bugs through resolution, advocating for quality throughout the development cycle
  • Build testing frameworks and processes that enable the team to move fast without breaking things
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and security standards (HIPAA, SOC 2)
  • Monitor production systems and user reports to catch issues before they impact patients
Who You Are
  • 3+ years of QA engineering experience, ideally with web and mobile applications
  • Strong foundation in both manual and automated testing methodologies
  • Experience with testing frameworks and tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
  • Comfortable testing APIs and backend systems, not just user interfaces
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Able to think critically about edge cases and potential failure modes
  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively with engineers, designers, and product managers
  • Passionate about quality and user experience in high-stakes environments
Nice to Have
  • Healthcare or regulated industry testing experience
  • Familiarity with AI/ML model testing and validation
  • Experience with video communication platforms or real-time systems
  • Background in security testing and compliance validation
  • Understanding of mobile app testing for iOS and Android
  • Experience building QA processes from the ground up in a startup environment
  • Knowledge of performance and load testing
