We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Specialist, Full-Stack Engineer to join our Fund & IS Client Engineering Team.  This role is located in Boston, MA.

This role will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting scalable full-stack applications, APIs, automated workflows, and data products that enable decision-making across Technology and Operations. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience across both front-end and back-end development, strong data engineering and integration skills, and the ability to build secure, resilient, and maintainable enterprise solutions. This individual should be comfortable working with financial datasets such as positions, transactions, security master/reference data, FX, corporate actions, vendor benchmarks, pricing/valuation, and account hierarchies, while also applying modern engineering practices across UI development, backend services, databases, cloud-based data platforms, and DevOps pipelines.

**Experience with the Eagle product suite, including its data model, integration frameworks, and performance reporting capabilities, is strongly preferred.**

 

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Design, build, enhance, and support full-stack applications for performance measurement, client reporting, workflow automation, operational processes, and data analysis.
  • Develop scalable solutions across the stack, including user interfaces, APIs, backend services, business logic, and database integrations.
  • Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly applications and dashboards using Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern UI design principles.
  • Develop and optimize backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Python, SQL, and Oracle, with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs, service integrations, and reusable components to enable interoperability across warehouse, operational, and vendor platforms.
  • Work with complex financial datasets including positions, transactions, reference data, FX, corporate actions, pricing/valuation, and account hierarchies to support reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Implement controls for data quality, reconciliation, exception handling, monitoring, auditability, and operational resilience.
  • Contribute to modern engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, secure coding, and containerized deployment patterns.
  • Partner closely with product owners, business analysts, QA, architects, and business stakeholders in an Agile delivery model.
  • Support application modernization efforts, including simplification of legacy solutions, improved developer productivity, and opportunities to leverage AI-enabled tools for automation and efficiency.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, production support, and continuous improvement efforts for business-critical applications.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-4 years of experience in software engineering, full-stack development, or enterprise application development, preferably in financial services or another highly regulated, data-intensive environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python, SQL, Oracle, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular.
  • Proven experience building and supporting enterprise-grade full-stack applications, including user interfaces, APIs, backend services, and database-driven solutions.
  • Experience developing REST APIs, integrating with external/internal platforms, and working with JSON and XML data structures.
  • Advanced SQL and database experience, including query optimization, validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, automated testing, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, modern data pipelines, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT, and analytics-oriented data structures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Eagle product suite, including data model, ingestion/enrichment flows, integration frameworks, and performance reporting capabilities.
  • Familiarity with front-, middle-, and back-office processes across asset servicing or asset management.
  • Experience supporting applications tied to performance measurement, attribution, NAV, risk/stat reporting, operational workflows, and client SLA deliverables.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with messaging/event-driven technologies such as Kafka, JMS, or MQ.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Prometheus.
  • Experience modernizing legacy platforms and improving engineering efficiency through automation and AI-enabled development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of data quality, lineage, audit trails, and reconciliation controls in enterprise reporting environments.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $71,000 and $123,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. 


This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
