What is a Full Stack Java Developer?

A Full Stack Java Developer is a software professional skilled in both front-end and back-end development using Java technologies. They are proficient in building complete web applications, handling everything from designing user interfaces and user experiences to managing databases and server-side logic. Typically, they work with frameworks like Spring Boot for the backend and technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, ensuring seamless integration between the two. Full Stack Java Developers are valued for their versatility and ability to manage all aspects of the software development process.

Is Java full stack in demand in 2026?

Full Stack Java Developer roles are expected to remain in demand in 2026 due to the continued need for versatile developers skilled in both front-end and back-end technologies, including frameworks like Spring and tools such as Java EE. As organizations adopt cloud computing and microservices architectures, expertise in Java and related technologies will be valuable for building scalable applications.

What are the typical challenges Full Stack Java Developers face when working on cross-functional teams?

Full Stack Java Developers often collaborate with front-end designers, back-end engineers, and QA specialists, which can lead to challenges in aligning technical requirements, timelines, and coding standards. Navigating different priorities and communication styles is common, especially when integrating new features or resolving bugs that span both client and server sides. Success in this environment requires flexibility, proactive communication, and a willingness to quickly adapt to shifting project needs or technologies.

What Is a Full Stack Java Developer?

A full stack Java developer is a web developer that uses the Java language in the development of the entire technology stack of a web-based application. The job duties of a full stack Java developer are to create both front-end components, such as user interfaces and back-end components, such as application code and databases. As a full stack Java developer, you must understand how the entire technology stack functions as a whole and have deep expertise of each component. Java is a computer programming language that has become one of the most popular for web application development.

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys taking ownership of complex technical systems from architecture through production. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep backend expertise with product-minded engineering and enjoys solving challenging infrastructure and scalability problems.
You'll work closely with founders, engineering leaders, and product teams to build the systems that power next-generation AI products, helping shape both the technical foundation and future direction of the platform.
What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs powering core product functionality.
  • Develop and ship full-stack features from backend services through to customer-facing interfaces.
  • Build reliable infrastructure that supports high-performance, real-time applications.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to define and deliver new capabilities.
  • Design systems that scale efficiently as product usage and complexity grow.
  • Improve platform reliability, observability, monitoring, and operational tooling.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy.
  • Optimize performance, security, and developer experience across the platform.
  • Help establish engineering best practices and contribute to a strong culture of technical excellence.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend engineering experience building and operating production systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with TypeScript and modern backend development practices.
  • Experience building scalable APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
  • Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, and system architecture.
  • Experience working with real-time systems, event-driven architectures, or asynchronous processing.
  • Ability to operate independently and thrive in ambiguous environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and systems-thinking mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach to engineering.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with edge computing, serverless architectures, or distributed platforms.
  • Exposure to AI-powered products, LLM infrastructure, or agent-based systems.
  • Experience designing highly available systems that support significant scale.
  • Familiarity with observability, monitoring, tracing, and incident management practices.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth environments.
  • Full-stack experience building customer-facing product features.
  • Experience helping establish engineering standards in early-stage teams.

Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a highly ambitious team solving complex technical challenges while building products used by a rapidly growing customer base.
You'll have significant ownership, direct access to decision-makers, meaningful influence on architecture and product direction, and the opportunity to work alongside exceptional engineers in a collaborative onsite environment.
