What is the opportunity?

The RBC Borealis Lumina Platform team is hiring a Lead Full Stack Developer who will bring focus and subject-matter expertise around designing and implementing APIs and UIs for the AWS and Azure Data & AI platforms to enable a seamless user experience and automation. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of developers, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical excellence in the world of machine learning infrastructure while working with a team of passionate individuals committed to the mission of bringing ML to enterprise.

At AI Group, you'll be joining a team that works directly with leading researchers in machine learning, has access to rich and massive datasets, and offers the computational resources to support ongoing development in areas such as reinforcement learning, unsupervised learning and computer vision.

What will you do?

  • Lead the development of full-stack APIs and UIs using modern frameworks and technologies

  • Lead the development of backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI and Flask

  • Collaborate with platform engineers to integrate applications with MLOps infrastructure and guide

  • technical decisions

  • Participate in code reviews and drive improvement of code quality and best practices

  • Support application CI/CD pipelines using GitHub actions, deploying to Kubernetes

  • Setup application monitoring and alerting through Grafana

  • Work with internal clients and stakeholders on new feature enablement

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and one backend language (Python, Java, or Node.js)

  • Strong experience building web applications with modern frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or similar)

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and web application architecture

  • Strong understanding of devops tooling including Git, Docker and GitHub actions

  • Good knowledge of databases, SQL and ORMs

  • Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing

  • Experience with machine learning concepts or MLOps tools

  • Knowledge of responsive design and UX principles
