Position Summary
As a Software Engineer I - Digital Products, you will contribute to the design, development, and support of scalable SaaS applications and digital solutions within the Digital Product team. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data Teams, Quality Engineers, and Infrastructure Teams to deliver high-quality software that aligns with business goals and user needs.
In this role, you will participate across the software development lifecycle, supporting existing systems, building new features, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. You will also have opportunities to influence technical design decisions, propose new products or enhancements, and mentor junior engineers, all within a collaborative, fast-paced environment guided by the SVPG Product Operating Model.
This position is based out of our corporate offices in Reading. PA. This an office first position, at least 4 days in office.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary technical contact and support associate for multiple applications, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
• Participate across the full product lifecycle (design, development, testing, release, support) in alignment with SVPG product principles.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, technical leaders, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and acceptance criteria, translating them into actionable technical solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend and frontend software modules, producing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Design backend database schemas and write complex SQL queries to support product features.
• Write automated unit and UI tests and leverage CI/CD pipelines for code deployment.
• Triage production issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and resolve problems.
• Mentor junior and offshore engineers, reviewing code and providing guidance on development best practices.
• Participate in hiring and technical interviews for new engineering team members.
• Influence discovery, standards, tools, and design patterns, proposing improvements to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
• Provide support to the business, advising on technical feasibility, implementation strategies, and solution approaches.
• Contribute to other digital product initiatives and projects as assigned.
Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5-7 years of software development experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Java).
• Full stack development experience with React, Angular, jQuery, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Spring/Spring-MVC, myBatis, RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of software design frameworks, patterns, and architecture principles.
• Experience with relational database design and SQL development.
• Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Experience with DevOps tools and automation practices.
• Ability to research and adopt emerging development frameworks and tools.
• Ability to estimate and support medium to large-sized projects.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to cross-functional teams.
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to mentor others in best practices.
