As a Senior Software Engineer within PNC's Retail Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO or Birmingham, AL.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building scalable, modern applications and services. You will work alongside experienced engineers, product managers, and architects to develop user-facing applications, APIs, and microservices that power critical business capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
Contribute to the development of frontend applications using Angular and modern web technologies.
Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and related frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver features.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices, coding standards, and documentation.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues across the technology stack.
Develop and execute unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure software quality.
Support application deployments and ongoing production maintenance.
Learn and apply modern software development methodologies, tools, and technologies.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
Qualifications
Experience developing software applications using Java.
Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and application design patterns.
Familiarity with source control systems such as Git.
Experience troubleshooting and debugging software applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Experience with both frontend and backend development in a full-stack capacity.
Experience developing web applications using Angular.
Experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices architectures.
Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks.
Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.
Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
