Position Overview

The Director of Business Development will be instrumental in establishing and scaling The Planet Group's Accounting & Finance practice in the Atlanta market. This individual will be responsible for driving new client acquisition, developing long-term strategic partnerships, and building a strong market presence within the region.

This role is designed for a high-performing hunter who thrives in a true build environment - prospecting new business, opening doors, and creating opportunities through proactive relationship development. You will serve as primary representative of the Accounting & Finance practice in the region, partnering closely with delivery teams to ensure the consistent delivery of talent solutions.

This individual will have the opportunity to expand their leadership impact and play a meaningful role in shaping the growth, direction, and long-term success of the practice as it scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive net-new business development efforts by identifying, targeting, and securing new client partnerships within the Accounting, Finance, and HR/Admin sectors

  • Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on generating new logo acquisition, market penetration, and revenue generation

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hiring managers and decision-makers at all levels

  • Own the full consultative sales process including prospecting, networking, client meetings, presentations, contract negotiations, and account growth

  • Partner closely with the delivery team to align talent solutions with client hiring needs and ensure seamless execution

  • Leverage existing relationships while continuously developing new opportunities through cold calling, referrals, networking, social selling, and market research

  • Stay informed of industry trends, workforce challenges, labor market conditions, and competitor activity to provide strategic guidance to clients

  • Collaborate with other Planet Group sales teams to identify cross-selling opportunities and expand client partnerships

  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management and consistently meet or exceed new business and revenue targets

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and entrepreneurial ownership

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of business development experience within the staffing industry

  • Proven success in generating net-new business and building client relationships from prospecting through close

  • Experience selling Accounting & Finance, HR/Admin staffing solutions strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of quota attainment and consistent revenue production in a hunter-oriented role

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the confidence to engage senior-level stakeholders

  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving ability

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
