POSITION SUMMARY

The Dental Hygienist at Secure Dental is a key member of the team, working closely with our dentists to ensure a dynamic and memorable patient experience. This role is responsible for the delivery of exceptional dental care through conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth, and educating patients on oral health and preventative care. The Dental Hygienist is the patient's advocate throughout their dental experience, providing meaningful patient feedback with compassion.

OBJECTIVES

  • Record treatment information in the patient's chart, including treatment rendered, the treatment plan, and schedule next appointment
  • Record evaluation of periodontal conditions, occlusal relations and extent of prophylaxis on dental chart to ensure a complete diagnosis and proper treatment plan by the dentist
  • Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums using dental instruments
  • Examine gums using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease
  • Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
  • Guide patients through their dental work process
  • Ensure patients are well educated on their dental plan including homecare plan
  • Maintain dental instruments, supplies and equipment inventory, and other ancillary duties
  • Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management


COMPETENCIES

  • Accountable and coachable to learn the Secure Dental way of delivering dental care
  • Knowledge of dental practices
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to use Cavitron
  • Strong patient service along with the ability to develop excellent patient relationships
  • Ability to communicate and work with all team members across multiple levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain state requirements


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene
  • RDH Stat License
  • X-ray Certification
  • CPR & First Aid Certification


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk using a computer
  • Hand-eye coordination; hand, arm, and finger mobility for detailed work with objects
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, squat, bend, stoop, and reach
  • Ability to see as close range
