Job description

Fulfillment Center Team Lead

Outerspace is a new type of Ops Center for high growth brands. We do warehousing and fulfillment, customization and light manufacturing, product photography, and more. This is not an old school warehouse operation that has been doing things the same way for 30 years. We come from the brand side and have built and led operations for companies like Steve Madden, Prada and Nice Laundry.

The primary responsibilities of the Team Lead at Outerspace is to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Leads to assist the Supervisor in attaining overall department goals. They lead by example and assist the Supervisor and department by effectively planning and organizing work flow; promoting teamwork, training, problem solving and decision making.

A successful Team Lead is someone who is driven, determined and committed to a high level of operational excellence and customer satisfaction. They are collaborative, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and are detail oriented. A successful candidate will have the ability to make an impact by motivating and leading the team to meet goals and objectives.

Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the line is properly staffed and ready for the workday, including temporary associates
  • Assist the Supervisor and other internal groups to meet and exceed customer requirements
  • Assure the safety and security of associates and inventory
  • Coordinate with other teams and departments on processes and procedures
  • Monitor associates' production standards and partner with Supervisor to ensure customer compliance, safety, and all company rules, policies and guidelines are met.
  • Ensure all priority orders are shipped in cartons
  • Perform order fulfillment duties; reviewing and prioritizing available orders, determine stock requirements and maintain levels of required inventory
  • Prioritize orders as needed by placing orders on hold, activate, and changing priorities
  • Pick and pack orders, check picked orders, and prepare completed orders for shipping
  • Troubleshooting any system issues, and communicating to supervisors and internal channels if escalation is necessary
  • Identify any possible process improvements within operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Safety:

  • Ensure work areas are safe to operate in
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of work areas
  • Comply with all OSHA and warehouse safety rules and guidelines

People Management:

  • Communicate and engage with teammates, supervisors, and managers daily
  • Maintain daily attendance of associates, including timeclock adherence
  • Ensure associate compliance with all company rules, policies and guidelines
  • Escalating complex issues and interpersonal conflicts to supervisors and managers

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years Distribution/Warehouse experience in a fast paced warehouse environment.
  • Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency, resourcefulness and adaptability.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Google Suites, Microsoft Office; experience with WMS systems a plus
  • Ability to manage daily and responsive communication via virtual platforms, such as email and Slack
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Outstanding work record in the areas of safety and attendance.
  • Ability to effectively articulate and motivate peers to achieve a common goal.
  • Conflict resolution skills, problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work overtime, on holidays and weekends.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
