About Us

Afton Chemical Corporation is part of the NewMarket Corporation (NYSE: NEU) family of companies, and is one of the largest global suppliers of lubricant additives and offers a broad line of fuel additives worldwide. 

Build/Monitor/Program the R&D Mechanical tests in assigned area (Hydraulic and Axle), record all pertinent data, make necessary adjustments/repairs to assure that test parameters, methods and procedures are met and work closely with test engineers to prioritize test queues.


  • Know, understand and consistently adhere to established safety policy and procedures. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes or additions to safety procedures and assists in safety training activities as required.
  • Work in parallel with team members and test engineers to build/monitor the automotive and mechanical test(s) in assigned area and record all pertinent data.
  • Ensure that all pertinent information is routinely communicated to the appropriate (i.e., internal customers, team members, supervisors, etc.) parties.
  • Carry out standard preventive maintenance as scheduled and complete proper documentation. Determine layout and maintain maintenance and test cell calibration schedule, if applicable.
  • Support respective SBUโ€™s in meeting test demands and area responsibilities, not only during standard working hours but after hours as needed to support 24-hour operations, ensuring continuity of workflow.
  • Participate in and assist with the continuing personal and group/area training process. May provide training/orientation to new employees.
  • Participate in internal staff meetings, committees and task force efforts as required. Complete special projects and team and customer evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Assure that complete ISO documentation is maintained on all ISO or quality related activities. Write needed procedures, participate in ISO related activities and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the ISO function.
  • Conduct inspections of hazardous waste storage areas, hazardous waste pumps and lines, aboveground storage tanks, and underground storage tanks as required.
  • Additional job requirements: Must be willing to operate a forklift and have a valid driverโ€™s license.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:           

  • High school graduate or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Demonstrated mechanical experience or aptitude
  • Work towards continuing technical education encouraged

  • Associateโ€™s degree
