Our Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and motivated Manager with significant experience in fuel system design to join our Vehicle Engineering Practice in Farmington Hills, MI. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to lead and provide engineering support on a wide range of projects including real world vehicle collisions and fires. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to partner with our senior staff and subject matter experts to grow their consulting practice.

You will be responsible for
  • Traveling to inspect crashed vehicles
  • Analyzing the performance of vehicles in severe collisions and crash testing
  • Applying expertise in fuel system design and automotive engineering to address defect claims in an adversarial litigation environment
  • Writing complex technical reports
  • Building and cultivating strong client relationships
  • Driving consulting business growth by identifying new opportunities through project delivery, client engagement, and participation in professional development activities
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver scientifically rigorous and impactful solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Supporting project planning and execution
  • Mentoring junior staff by providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative, inclusive team environment
You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of industry or research experience in fuel system design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • A collaborative mindset and experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Project management experience, including coordinating tasks, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of technical projects
  • A commitment to professional growth
  • Professional Engineering, Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, and/or a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator license is preferred

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.

Salary Range

USD $166,500.00 - USD $194,000.00 /Yr.
