FSM Group, an aviation fuel management company with multiple locations in the US, has immediate openings for Fuel Facility Operators at its new LaGuardia Airport location. Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet attendance standards and adhere to all safety and performance standards are essential.
  • Accept petroleum products from transport trucks and pipelines into all storage facilities in accordance with ATA 103 established procedures and quality controls
  • Train new employees as directed by Supervisors
  • Ensure quality control of fuel and facility inspections and integrity of fuel hydrant system in accordance with ATA 103 criteria
  • Maintain Fuel inventories
  • Assist with calibration of equipment
  • Work on loading racks and fuel storage equipment
  • Update records and inspection forms
  • Complete paperwork as instructed by Supervisors
  • Inspect equipment and hydrant system; document/report discrepancies
  • Perform quality control of fuel in accordance with ASTM and ATA standards
  • Assist with cleanup of fuel spills. Clean and maintain the work area
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • Reliable transportation;
  • Eligible to work in the United States;
  • Valid state driver's license with clean motor vehicle record;
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and federal fingerprint background check.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to problem solve;
  • Basic mathematical skills;
  • Demonstrated regular, predictable attendance at the airport location;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to communicate in English while on the job with customers, coworkers, or supervisors who only speak English, in emergencies or other situations in which employees must speak a common language to promote safety;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
  • Basic understanding of computer applications and data entries.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:


This position requires sustained physical effort and consistent exposure to outdoor and potentially hazardous work environments. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Mobility and Access

  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50+ steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more, including high, precarious places.
  • Must be able to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights.
  • Must be able to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes, including automated lifts up to 26 feet.

Lifting and Carrying

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead.
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level.
  • Must be able to shovel materials such as snow, sand, dirt, gravel, or rocks as needed.

Standing and Movement

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and balance for extended periods of time.
  • Perform repetitive physical movements, including bending at the waist and knees, and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions.
  • Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work, such as connecting fueling hoses.
  • Manual Dexterity
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools, equipment, and controls.

Sensory Requirements

  • Hear and respond to verbal instructions, environmental sounds, and audible alarms.
  • Maintain the following vision capabilities:

Environmental and Working Conditions

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
  • Tolerate frequent exposure to:

o Moderate to high noise levels (with use of appropriate hearing protection)o Fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous substances, materials, or waste

  • Work near or around:

o Moving mechanical parts
