About the Role
As Superintendent, you will run the jobsite from first shovel to final punch. Youā€™ll own the master schedule, coordinate subs, manage site logistics, and deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining Deaconā€™s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the full project schedule, updating lookā€‘ahead and recovery plans.
  • Direct dayā€‘toā€‘day field activities: manpower, equipment, material deliveries, and site logistics.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress, verify compliance with drawings/specifications, and drive quality control.
  • Lead daily safety huddles, enforce company and OSHA safety requirements, and conduct jobsite inspections.
  • Manage project documentation: RFIs, field reports, photos, and daily logs using Microsoft Office and Procore/PlanGrid.
  • Coordinate with agencies and inspectors for testing, special inspections, and required reporting.
  • Mentor project engineers, foremen, and assistant superintendents; foster a collaborative, highā€‘performance team.
  • Track quantities, productivity, and cost codes; forecast labor and equipment needs.
  • Resolve site challenges quickly (weather impacts, unforeseen conditions, emergencies) to keep the schedule intact.
Qualifications amp; Skills
  • 5-10+ years of progressive field experience with groundā€‘up commercial projects valued $20M+.
  • Proven track record as lead/primary Superintendent on at least two large projects from start to finish.
  • Expert in reading plans, specs, and subcontracts; strong knowledge of means and methods.
  • Advanced scheduling skillsā€”able to build, update, and recover schedules in MS Project.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiar with Procore, PlanGrid, or similar fieldā€‘management tools.
  • Solid understanding of cost control, quantity tracking, and basic construction accounting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to motivate diverse trade teams.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
