About the Role:


A fuel transportation and distribution organization in the IE is seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to serve as second‐in‐command of the logistics department, overseeing day‐to‐day transportation operations in support of the Director of Operations. This role supervises dispatchers, drivers, and logistics personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of petroleum products while maintaining exceptional customer service and regulatory compliance. The Logistics Supervisor also assumes full leadership responsibilities in the Director’s absence.



Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as second‐in‐command of the logistics department, acting as a secondary leader alongside the Director of Operations and assuming full operational leadership when needed
  • Oversee daily fuel transportation operations across assigned terminals, ensuring safe, on‐time deliveries
  • Monitor dispatch activities and adjust schedules based on changing operational demands
  • Coordinate equipment and driver assignments to maximize fleet utilization
  • Review route efficiency and identify opportunities to reduce empty miles and improve productivity
  • Manage emergency deliveries and after‐hours operational issues
  • Supervise commercial drivers and dispatch personnel, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations
  • Enforce company policies and DOT Hours of Service regulations
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and resolve delivery issues, shortages, and delays
  • Monitor daily operational KPIs such as on‐time delivery, routing efficiency, fleet utilization, and safety incidents
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of drivers



Qualifications

  • Petroleum or fuel transportation/distribution experience — required
  • 5+ years of transportation or logistics experience
  • 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and HAZMAT compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict‐resolution skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on‐call, including emergency response outside normal hours
  • Preferred certifications: DOT Compliance Training, HAZMAT Transportation, OSHA 30, or CTP
