Job description

Cashiers at Dayton Valley play a key role in enhancing the customer experience and ensuring a safe, convenient shopping environment. They operate the register, efficiently process transactions, and actively support daily store operations. This position focuses on delivering friendly customer service while upholding store security and safety standards to help manage costs and drive sales.

Responsibilities:

· Provide a positive customer experience by delivering friendly and polite service.

· Record purchases on register by scanning items, ensuring proper pricing.

· Collect payments, including cash, check, credit payments, and fleet cards, and provide change to customers accurately and with high attention to detail.

· Verify purchases by reviewing and recording customer identification in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

· Greet customers entering the establishment, assist them in locating products, and answer customer questions.

· Educate and upsell customers on product offerings to increase sales.

· Maintain safety protocols, including proper cash handling, balancing, and drop off, auditing, and recording results in compliance with company policies and procedures.

· Resolve customer issues or complaints as necessary and in alignment with the policy.

· Support the cleanliness and appearance of the store by stocking inventory, cleaning throughout the store, bagging ice, and preparing food and beverages as needed.

· Assist with verifying inventory orders, fuel readings, dispensing propane, slot machine payments, and price changes as needed.

· Stay up to date with all safety training and practices, escalating concerns as appropriate.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Strong communication and time management skills.

· Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.

· Ability to learn the company’s products and services, and customer-related policies.

· Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

· Must be at least 18 years of age. Some locations may only hire 21 and over.

Education/Experience:

· Work experience as a cashier or in a similar role in sales or service.

· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Successful completion of on-the-job-training.

Physical Job Requirements:

· This position requires the ability to remain in a standing stationary position more than half the time.

· The person in this position will need to move about the store and position themselves (ex: kneel, crawl, crouch down) to fulfill the essential functions of the role more than half the time.

· The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) up to 50 lbs.

· This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing, sweeping, slicing deli meat, operating the Point of Sale system, etc.) all the time.

· This position is exposed to hazardous chemical materials and outdoor weather conditions more than half the time.

· This position operates heavy machinery less than half the time and the individual in this role must be able to meet all safety requirements of the respective equipment.
