As a Mechanic III (Test Cell Operator) you are the core of the engine testing process, responsible for the hands-on execution of the tests.
What You Will Do
- Prepare engines for testing by completing inspections, staging, and required setup activities.
- Execute engine test procedures in accordance with OEM manuals and company work instructions.
- Troubleshoot engine and facility issues, performing in-cell repairs when required.
- Collect, verify, and document accurate test data throughout each test.
- Communicate test results and findings with the management team and service engineers.
- Maintain test cell equipment, dress kits, and work areas to ensure operational readiness.
- Report facility discrepancies and take immediate action to prevent unsafe conditions.
- Work independently and as a team to achieve maximum quality.
- Observe all applicable safety practices and aviation regulations.
- Maintain the facility side of the test cells and test cell control rooms.
- Maintain the facility fuel farm and test cell fuel system components.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of aviation maintenance with a focus on turbine engines or engine testing experience; equivalent military aviation experience will be considered.
- Minimum of three (3) years of working with turbine engine systems, engine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.
- Minimum of three (3) years of reading, interpreting, and applying OEM manuals, technical publications, engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience using precision measuring equipment, hand tools, and common aviation maintenance equipment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and turbine engine system issues.
Preferred Characteristics
- Experience performing turbine engine testing in a test cell environment.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical and system-related issues.
- Experience with Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, or similar gas turbine engines.
- Familiarity with computerized data acquisition systems and engine instrumentation.
- Ability to use a broad array of calibration equipment to verify test cell instrumentation.
- General facility electrical maintenance or industrial controls experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
