Job Title: Fuel Technician

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Facilities

Reports to: Facilities Service Manager


Position summary: The Fuel Technician is responsible to resolve support issues with our facilities.

General Purpose: To provide our customers with total satisfaction. To serve our community through volunteerism and produce a return on assets which will assure the future prosperity of our employees and our company. To be an ambassador of our “Living Brand” by building relationships with our customers.

Role Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent Document. Must be able to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must have dependable transportation. Must be able to travel daily between all Family Express locations or other non-Family Express locations when necessary. Completion or ability to complete the ICC U1 Installation and retrofitting certification.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs inspection and testing of fuel storage tank, fuel dispensers, tank monitoring systems, submersible pumps, and associated underground storage tank equipment
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all fuel equipment
  • Assist in training store staff to perform routine dispenser repairs using established procedures
  • Assist in the review all work orders and contractor/service provider invoices for accuracy and reasonableness on a timely basis
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service provider
  • Conduct all work in a safe manner adhering to all company, customer, industry, local, state, and federal safe work policies/procedure
  • Run Service calls to multiple store locations using company owned vehicle
  • Participate in a preventative maintenance program that will include documentation and repair of equipment on a scheduled program
  • Promotes Company’s mission statement
  • Fosters Company’s Culture
  • Responsible for supporting Facilities Technicians and resolving other facilities support issues

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand for prolong periods; work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, reach climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear; smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Work Environment: Must have flexibility to work all shifts, all days of the week, when necessary. Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures for a minimum of 30-minute intervals. Exposure to dirt, dust, and cleaning solvents.
