Job description

The ICIAN Technical Training Consultant is responsible for the successful implementation and delivery of ICIAN technical and/or trade-related training and services. This includes: coordination and facilitation of technical and/or trade-related classes, design and development of technical and/or trade-related curriculum, and on-site/jobsite coaching and training. Must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, proficient in the operation of audiovisual equipment, familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within data centers, electrical and/or specialty systems contractor field, and knowledge of adult educational principles and theory is preferred. The ICIAN Technical Training Consultant acts as a Subject Matter Expert within the Data Center space.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field. Journeyman certification and/or BICSI certification preferred.
Experience:5+ years of data center experience with a strong technical background in electrical systems, specialty systems, or a related trade. Previous facilitation or training experience (1-2 years preferred) is highly desirable.
Travel: 0-50%
Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Effectively facilitates ICIAN technical curriculum and trade-related training classes - specifically around Data Centers.
  • Creates and leads all hands-on lab training & testing, while keeping safety at the forefront of education.
  • Leverage key trade industry knowledge to design and scale technical curriculum specialized for high-density data center environments, based on organizational needs.
  • Create coursework covering data center critical infrastructure-including MV/LV distribution, switchgear, breakers, transformers, relays, ATS/STS systems, UPS systems, generators, PLCs, SCADA/EPMS and mechanical systems-to support safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and real-time system monitoring.
  • Coach ICIANs through the competencies required for data center deployment.
  • Assists in owning and continuously enhancing the ICIAN technical curriculum to align with evolving client expectations and business objectives.
  • Collaborates with ICIAN Team to research and recommend content, develop, pilot, and implement new technical and/or trade-related training and development programs.
  • Conducts jobsite or on-site coaching and development of employees (related to audits and/or to assist with novel work or jobs in crisis).
  • Develops relationships with operational leaders that facilitate open dialogue and trust.
  • Supports and provides guidance to ICIAN Coordinator in the coordination of the ICIAN programs, as needed.
  • Works with the ICIAN team and subject-matter experts to continuously improve the content, activities, and delivery of technical and/or trade-related programs.
  • Continually increases knowledge of facilitation craft and public speaking abilities.
  • Actively participates in professional and trade-related organizations.
  • Demonstrates an acceptance of the company culture (adhere to company values), an adoption of professional standards, and the ability to model these standards to trainees.
  • Demonstrates approachability and ability to collaborate with others and effectively influence.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
