Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Strategic Operations Principal is responsible for providing strategic direction for operational projects and activities to ensure objectives are aligned and implemented successfully. Primary areas of responsibility include driving outcomes on key company initiatives by implementing a variety of analytical techniques to perform hands-on data analysis and modeling. Collaborates across the company with other teams to leverage a network of subject matter experts and data sources to contribute to projects and analyses in support of optimal enterprise outcomes. Leads appropriate analysis and development of content together with key stakeholders to evaluate strategic choices and develop/deliver recommendations. Develops and presents actionable insights while effectively advocating for implementation of recommendations. Acts as a consultant across the business, solving challenging problems using analytics and communicating findings effectively to key stakeholders and senior management. Interacts with various stakeholders and business partners including but not limited to Finance, Field Operations, Information Technology, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Legal, other FedEx operating companies, third party vendors, etc.


This is a hybrid position located inPlano, TX, Memphis, TN or Collierville, TN. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive strategic direction for key initiatives by influencing stakeholders to integrate data into decisions.
  • Implement a variety of analytical techniques, ranging from data mining to statistical modeling and numerical optimizations on a wide range of data sources.
  • Partner with leadership to define strategic vision and objectives.
  • Work with key stakeholders to understand business objectives of projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with strategic vision and objectives.
  • Leverage internal and external data sets and technologies to conduct analysis and generate insights.
  • Advise and support strategic and operational business projects applying data analysis with business-savvy.
  • Create actionable recommendations on specific strategic questions and successfully promote their implementation.
  • Communicate complex analytical results in a concise and easy-to-understand manner to a wide range of audiences.
  • Responsible for communicating directly with Operations Management in all areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in task force teams and management committees / projects related to total FSO productivity and performance.
  • Contributes to multiple projects of divisional and FSO proportion.
  • Influence operations' Vice Presidents and / or groups of operations' Managing Directors to act on recommendations.
  • Utilize advanced proficiency of MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Business Objects, Essbase, Internet / Intranet and PC applications Advanced skills in computer modeling of operations.
  • Apply full understanding and practiced skills of advanced analytics.
  • Perform all types of training, delegation and coordination of projects, tasks and activities involving any level of participation between various levels of professionals and management.
  • All other duties as needed or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, related field or equivalent experience
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years preferred prior work experience in advanced analytics with complex operational analysis.
  • Prior experience in problem solving, data analytics, root cause analysis and solution implementation.
  • Prior experience in being able to influence and lead Operational Management and large project teams.
  • Prior project and Program Management experience a plus
  • Prior analytical background, including statistics and forecasting principles.
  • Prior experience and high level of proficiency with MS Access, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment and under time constraints.
