Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greets customers on sales floor; determines brand, type, and quality of merchandise desired; and assists customers to locate merchandise.  Displays merchandise, suggests selections that meet customer's needs, and emphasizes selling points of article such as quality and utility.
  • Acts as cashier using POS system. Prepares sales slip or sales contract, receives payment or obtains credit authorization, and bags merchandise for customer.  Lists out-of-stock items or special customer needs on need notes or in order books.
  • Places new merchandise on display; stocks shelves neatly according to product type, brand and size.  Rotates stock and checks for outdated goods.
  • Prepares and maintains inventory of stock.  Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming products to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices.  Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications and checks for damage or infestation.  Compiles reports on adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusals of shipment.
  • Determines methods of storage, identification and stock location (considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space) and stores articles in appropriate locations according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material.
  • Assists with maintaining a clean store (i.e. sweeping, mopping, washing windows, cleaning restrooms).
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
