POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cut Fruit Produce Clerk is responsible for efficiently preparing, packaging, and displaying a variety of fresh cut fruits and other prepared produce items for sale within the store. This role involves ensuring that all prepared produce items meet quality and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the cutting area, and providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Greet and build rapport with vendors.
  • Display a friendly and outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.
  • Respond to employees'/customers' questions in an effective manner.
  • Basic produce department cleaning upkeep.
  • Follow safety and sanitation procedures to ensure quality service and products for our customers.
  • Prepare and cut a variety of fruits such as melons, pineapples, strawberries, and oranges according to established guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Package cut fruits in containers or trays, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the cutting area, including regularly cleaning equipment, surfaces, and utensils.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cut fruits and communicate with management to ensure adequate supply.
  • Rotate stock and remove any expired or damaged products from display.
  • Assist customers with inquiries regarding cut fruit products, including providing information on availability, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to ensure the freshness and quality of all cut fruit products.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as produce and bakery, to coordinate displays and promotions.
  • Operate cutting equipment and other tools safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to customer needs.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience working in produce or prepared foods
  • Produce retail background preferred
  • Knowledge of different types of fruits, their seasonality, and proper handling techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products accurately.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • WALKING: Continuously, throughout the day, while moving about the store and obtaining product from the warehouse.
  • STANDING: Continuously, throughout the shift while stocking and facing product.
  • LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.

The pay scale above is the hourly wage range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position. *Manager roles have a bonus target potential paid out quarterly based on company results/metrics.
Within this range, individual pay is determined by location and other factors including, but not limited to, specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training. The Company offers competitive medical, dental, vision, and supplemental benefits to its team members.
