Job description

At Trans Ova Genetics, we're helping producers build the next generation of livestock through industry-leading reproductive technologies. As a Semen Sexing Lab Technician I, you'll play a hands-on role in a process that helps cattle producers make more informed breeding decisions and improve the genetic future of their herds. This is more than a laboratory role. It's an opportunity to contribute to technologies that help shape the future of animal agriculture while developing expertise in one of the livestock industry's most specialized and innovative fields. You'll work alongside a dedicated team, gain hands-on experience with advanced reproductive technologies, and play an important role in supporting cattle producers across the globe.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate, calibrate, align, maintain, and clean specialized cell-sorting equipment.
  • Prepare, stain, and process semen samples according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Monitor sorting performance and ensure quality, accuracy, and production standards are achieved throughout the sorting process.
  • Conduct motility assessments and sample evaluations before and after sorting.
  • Maintain accurate production records and laboratory data.
  • Manage semen inventory and prepare samples for fertilizations and customer shipments.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment readiness, and necessary supplies.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and company policies while collaborating effectively with team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Biology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or a related science field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Interest in animal agriculture, livestock production, biotechnology, or laboratory sciences.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform precise technical work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an indoor laboratory environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn specialized laboratory equipment and processes.
