ITS Vice Presidency Context:

The Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU) enables the World Bank Group to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150+ locations. The WBG Technology Innovation Office (ITSTI), launched in June 2017 as the ITS Innovation Lab, initially focused on blockchain and distributed ledger technologies. It has since expanded to cover areas such as AI, IoT, quantum computing, and related emerging fields. ITSTI accelerates and incubates technology-driven innovation across the World Bank Group by providing resources for ideation, prototyping, and piloting new solutions. The Office fosters collaboration, learning, capacity building, and knowledge creation, helping integrate advanced technologies and innovative approaches into WBG operations. As a core ITS offering, Innovation as a Service allows teams to access specialized expertise. Through its support and advisory services, ITSTI drives digital transformation and agility within the organization by embedding technology-enabled innovation in WBG processes and initiatives. 


ITSTI accelerates and increases value to business partners and clients on two fronts: 
(1) Technology Innovation Leadership and Advisory incorporates innovation and future-readiness into organizational capabilities by applying human-centered, forward-looking methods to develop creative solutions and strategies. These approaches better equip WBG for an unpredictable future by utilizing signals, trends, and the scalable, responsible exploration and adoption of frontier technologies.

Role Purpose:
The Associate Senior Solutions Engineer is a subject matter expert who leads and manages complex solution implementation projects, mentors junior engineers, and drives innovation in integration and optimization. This role shapes organizational best practices, influences technical strategies, and leads cross-functional teams to deliver transformative solutions. The Associate Senior Solutions Engineer partners with architecture and product leadership to align solutions with strategic objectives, ensuring operational reliability, automation, and continuous improvement across enterprise technology ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Engineering
Manage the translation of business requirements into functional and technical 
specifications, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational objectives.
Design and review secure, scalable, and compliant technology solutions, applying 
best practices in application integration and data modelling.
Review solution designs for adherence to organizational and regulatory security 
standards, embedding security controls throughout the lifecycle.
Agile Delivery & Integration

Lead Agile delivery teams through onboarding, configuration, and integration 
activities, selecting and applying appropriate Agile methodologies.
Manage the integration of applications and data flows, leveraging cloud platforms 
and standard interoperability approaches to optimize performance.
Promote configuration management and continuous improvement, troubleshooting 
issues and supporting adoption of new technologies and practices.
IT Service Delivery & Governance

Support the design, assessment, and strengthening of enterprise IT service delivery models, ensuring alignment with business objectives and institutional priorities.
Develop and refine delivery governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting structures to improve predictability, transparency, and accountability.
Support portfolio level visibility of services, initiatives, and delivery risks across multiple ITS stakeholders.
Digital Transformation & Innovation Enablement

Advise on the practical application of digital transformation initiatives, including automation, AI enabled services, and modernization of delivery practices.
Support the identification, prioritization, and transition of innovative solutions from proof of concept to sustainable operational services.
Contribute to enterprise wide service modernization efforts while ensuring architectural consistency and scalability.
Enterprise Architecture & Standards Alignment

Support alignment of service delivery initiatives with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and roadmaps.
Facilitate architectural reviews and ensure service and solution designs adhere to security, resilience, and governance requirements.
Translate high level architectural direction into actionable guidance for delivery teams and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Operational Excellence

Build trust and manage expectations with internal customers, fostering collaborative 
relationships across business and IT teams.
Apply analytical reasoning to evaluate solution effectiveness, optimize business
