A Frontend Game Developer is a software professional who focuses on creating the visual and interactive aspects of video games that players see and interact with. They use programming languages and frameworks such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine to build user interfaces, animations, and gameplay features. Their work ensures smooth gameplay, engaging visuals, and responsive controls, enhancing the overall player experience. We're looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to join our team in Ghent. If you're looking to work in an international company in a role that offers autonomy, ownership and impact, this is the role for you!

About the role

At Qargo, the frontend is where our platform truly comes to life. Logistics professionals rely on Qargo every day to plan routes, manage operations, and make critical decisions, all through intuitive, fast, and reliable user interfaces. As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping how users experience our Transport Management Platform.

You will work on designing, building, and evolving our web-based frontend, focusing on rich user interactions, performance, and usability at scale. From complex drag-and-drop planning screens to interactive maps and custom document editors, your work directly impacts productivity, onboarding speed, and customer satisfaction.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, backend engineers, and designers to understand real-world logistics challenges and translate them into elegant frontend solutions. This role offers a strong mix of hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and ownership, with plenty of room to influence frontend architecture, UX decisions, and the future direction of our platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • You’ll focus on frontend development of our web-based platform, designing and building rich interfaces used by thousands of logistics professionals across Europe.

  • You’ll work with React interacting with a GraphQL API (Apollo), and with frameworks like Zustand, Ant Design, Linaria, and many more.

  • You’ll craft intuitive, responsive user experiences, from drag-and-drop interfaces to custom document editors and interactive maps.

  • You’ll optimize the performance and implement best practices to ensure smooth interactions, delivering an exceptional user experience.

  • You’ll be part of a driven and highly talented team with an impressive track record.

  • You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve real-world challenges and enhance our product.

  • You’ll make a real impact and improve efficiency and sustainability in the logistics industry while working on software used by thousands.

Skills & Experience
  • You have a Master's degree in IT/Computer Science/Software Engineering and at least 2 years of experience in frontend development.

  • Passion for solving complex technical challenges and designing scalable software solutions. You understand technical tradeoffs and make pragmatic decisions.

  • A growth mindset - eager to learn, experiment, and expand your knowledge.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills and to work independently and in a team.

  • A user-first mentality - you care about the real-world impact of your work.

  • Enthusiasm for collaborative teamwork and a willingness to share knowledge and accomplish shared goals.

  • You have experience with React and modern frontend tooling, and a solid understanding of state management and component-based architecture.

  • You’re familiar with concepts like GraphQL, realtime data, and collaborative UIs.

What We Offer
  • A fast-growing SaaS company with a strong mission and an impact-driven team.

  • A flexible work environment that accommodates your needs with flexible hours and hybrid working.

  • A green office with a great atmosphere and lots of initiatives, such as board game nights, theme lunches, sports activities, ... etc.

  • A role with a lot of responsibility, ownership, and tangible impact.

  • The chance to grow with us and achieve your career aspirations.
