Larson Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sr. Electrical Engineer to lead front end engineering and detailed design of projects throughout various processing facilities, including pulp & paper, chemical processing, and power production. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in engineering consulting, design engineering of construction documents, and multi-disciplinary project lead and supervision relating to heavy industrial projects.
Description
This position will work directly with multiple disciplines to develop electrical aspects of various projects from initial concept through design and construction. The position will require direct contact with clients, vendors, and contractors to coordinate and meet the necessary project goals. The ideal candidate will be an independent leader in the company and have a growth-orientated personality with a willingness to address all aspects of industrial projects. As an engineering consultant, you will need a broad knowledge of the latest equipment and technology used in industrial facilities, ideally within the pulp and paper industry.
Specific Responsibilities include
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to interface with clients, manage projects, and serve as a technical expert in this field.
  • Creating Project Capital Cost Estimating and Project Schedule development for front end engineering and detailed design projects.
  • Creating equipment, project, and material specifications.
  • Performing field verifications of new designs and existing environments.
  • Collecting existing information and interpreting data.
  • Creating reports, project summaries and recommendations.
  • Developing projects from initial design concepts through construction.
  • Providing onsite bid, design, and construction assistance.
  • Ability to Travel as needed, typically less than 25%.
  • Experience in AutoCAD design and/or 3-D modeling
  • Candidate must be experienced in:
  • Specification of 15 KV, 4160 V, 480 V electrical gear, including substations, MCC's, and VFD's
  • Lighting and grounding design
  • Electrical equipment layouts
  • Development of single line and motor elementary diagrams
  • Development of process control loop sheet drawings
  • Electrical cable schedules and cable tray routing
  • Electrical cost estimating
  • Design proposal development
  • Short Circuit and Arc Flash analysis experience is desirable

Qualifications
  • Experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry or similar process industry is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required, along with eight or more years of experience.
  • Experience in the design of electrical power systems, lighting, grounding, and process control wiring.
  • E. license or ability to obtain licensure within 1 year.
