Job Summary:

 

Zymo Research is seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both front-end and back-end web development and a willingness to learn and grow. This role involves developing and maintaining web applications, internal tools, e-commerce sites and APIs that improve operational efficiency, enhance user experiences, and support Zymo Research's mission of advancing scientific discovery.

In this role, you will work with a team of senior developers on software projects. You will contribute to the codebase, participate in architectural design discussions, interact with stakeholders, and learn best practices of software development.

The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about software development and system design. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and have experience with basic software development practices. This position requires at least 20 hours per week of onsite work during normal business hours at our Tustin office. Remote work is not possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand codebases of our existing applications.
  • Complete assigned software development tasks with good code quality in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to new software projects from design and development phases all the way to deployment.
  • Contribute to maintenance and troubleshooting of applications.
  • Develop internal tools and dashboards.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and users about their needs and requirements.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. Students in the last year of their degree program or pursuing a Master's degree will be considered.
  • Experience in React and/or Next.js framework, HTML, CSS.
  • Experience in Python backend frameworks such as Django and Flask.
  • Experience in creating and using REST APIs.
  • Experience in version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience in developing Shopify sites is a plus.
  • Experience in developing WordPress sites is a plus.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools in development.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
