The Opportunity:
The Smurfit Westrock Solvay Mill has an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the team as a project manager overseeing multiple capital projects as the company continues its investment in core businesses.
Job Duties:
Manage multiple capital projects (primarily electrical, instrumentation and/or controls), including detailed design, procurement, construction management, project financials, spare parts, and documentation.
Project development within a structured environment utilizing Front End Loading (FEL)/Front End Planning (FEP) from business case to approval/execution.
Provide E&I engineering support to the other department project engineers as needed.
Work with Purchasing Dept. to identify all project materials and equipment for project completion.
Assist in the attainment of general mill goals by supporting special teams or supplying teams with necessary technical support.
Responsible for coordinating engineering and project activities while interacting with Maintenance and Operations. This includes outage planning support and scheduling with respect to Capital Projects, and Power/Controls maintenance related activities.
Supply technical assistance for electrical equipment failure analysis.
Prepare, review and update mill specifications and review management of change proposals.
Provide E&I expertise on maintenance work orders as needed.
Safety leadership mind-set.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology or related electrical field and 5 years of experience in job offered or related occupation.
Position requires experience in the following:
Process design, power distribution, PLC / DCS and variable speed drives.
Capital project development, execution, and installation/commissioning.
Troubleshooting plant electrical equipment and systems.
Supporting plant maintenance team on preventive maintenance activities, including equipment obsolescence planning and spare parts procurement strategy.
Experience with paper machine sectional drive upgrades. Experience with ABB ACS 880 drives highly preferred.
Experience working with paper machine hydraulic systems including press section hydraulics and shoe presses.
FEL/FEP CAPEX project life cycle implementation.
Manage and Lead FAT/SAT acceptance tests on facility electrical intensive capital projects.
The salary range for this position is $117,750 - $196,250. The benefits for this role include a bonus plan, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your pay will be based on factors such as your skills, experience, and education.
