Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer — Data Visualization Workflow Automation

Position: Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Software Engineer, Level 3)

Location: Columbia, MD (on-site)

Category: Software Engineering / Full-Stack Development / Data Analytics

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000 (annualized USD)

Experience Requirement:

  • 12+ years with a Bachelor's degree, OR

  • 10+ years with a Master's degree, OR

  • 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Description

You will act as a full-stack developer on a fast-paced team improving operational processes for our customers. The organization is focused on discovery of opportunities and enabling activities across numerous technical fields. You will be responsible for designing and delivering custom applications that provide data visualization, workflow automation, and operational visibility for critical work.

You'll work closely with the customer, collect requirements and feedback, and provide support on a wide variety of tasks. This is a customer-service-oriented software development role where requirements can change rapidly based on customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scripts and analytics that provide novel insights into unique questions.

  • Find and aggregate data from disparate sources and integrate it into new and existing tools.

  • Develop new UIs and visualizations that give customers better understanding of their data.

  • Elicit requirements and feedback directly from end users and other stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with related teams to share expertise and elevate everyone.

Skills Requirements

  • Experience developing in Python, specifically for data transformations.

  • Experience writing frontend web apps in JavaScript/TypeScript with React.

  • Experience querying and developing in a big data environment.

  • Experience developing on and managing Linux servers.

  • Comfortable working directly with customers and users to solve unique hard problems.

  • Desire to architect and implement solutions from beginning to end.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience using AWS.

  • Experience with any other programming languages or frameworks (Java, FastAPI, Angular, Spring Boot, etc.).

  • Desire to mentor and teach others.

  • Knowledge of AI/ML and big data tools (DuckDB, Polars, Pandas, Spark).

Compensation Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $200,000 – $250,000 (annualized USD).
