Primary Purpose

Manage customer service on the front end, operate according to company standards, and ensure compliance with policies, safety measures, and regulations. The role focuses on achieving business goals, fostering high customer satisfaction, maximizing sales, and minimizing shrink.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision: In the absence of the Customer Service Manager, oversee all Front End Associate duties and maintain operations during designated hours (minimum 3 days/week).

  • Customer Service: Serve as a model for fast, easy, and enthusiastic customer service; instill these values in associates.

  • Service Standards: Manage and achieve delegated Food Lion service standards.

  • Operational Efficiency: Maintain an efficient, productive front end; support budgeted financial and operating results.

  • Safety & Compliance: Follow company, food safety, and workplace safety policies; report unsafe conditions and accidents promptly.

  • Loss Prevention: Monitor and account for inventory and money; coach associates to prevent losses.

  • Training & Development: Train and develop office assistants and cashiers; ensure accurate, timely completion of office functions.

  • Financial Oversight: Communicate cash variances; research and report over/short discrepancies to management.

  • Promotions & Materials: Ensure proper use of advertising and sales promotion materials.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Mid-level; typically 2+ years in management, sales, customer service, or retail management .

  • Skills: Management, sales, customer service, cash register operation, retail management, food safety, workplace safety, staff scheduling, regulatory compliance, team development, communication, and problem-solving.
