About the Position

The Courtyard by Marriott Baltimore McHenry Row is seeking a Bistro Team Member to join our team. This is a versatile, hands-on position that supports both the Front of House and Back of House operations of our Bistro.

Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in preparing and serving quality food, and can move comfortably between guest service and kitchen responsibilities. This position provides an opportunity to learn multiple aspects of hotel food and beverage operations while delivering excellent experience to our guests.

Responsibilities

Front of House / Guest Service

  • Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Take and accurately process food and beverage orders.
  • Prepare and serve Bistro menu items, beverages, coffee, and other offerings.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately handle cash and credit card transactions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked Bistro and service area.
  • Answer guest questions regarding menu items and make recommendations when appropriate.
  • Ensure food and beverage orders are prepared and delivered accurately and timely.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and address concerns professionally.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and stocking.

Back of House / Kitchen

  • Prepare menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and food safety procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly.
  • Assist with food preparation, including chopping, portioning, cooking, and plating.
  • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and temperature controls.
  • Keep kitchen, prep areas, equipment, and workstations clean and sanitary.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate shortages or product needs to management.
  • Follow all health, sanitation, food safety, and company standards.

Team Responsibilities

  • Be willing and able to work in both Front of House and Back of House areas based on business needs.
  • Work effectively with other Bistro and hotel team members to provide exceptional guest service.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow all hotel, Marriott, and company standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment for guests and fellow team members.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and varied shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant, hotel, food service, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous cooking or kitchen experience is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical duties associated with the position.
  • Must be willing to cross-train and work in both Front of House and Back of House functions.
