Nature & Purpose of Position
Student must have completed one full year of college, student with a minimum SHSU GPA of 2.8 or higher. Previous relevant job experience is preferred and must have strong communication and people skills. Student will maintain the front desk, greet visitors, perform clerical tasks (filing, copying, develop basic Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, etc.) as required by the Associate Deans and Administrative Associate. Other responsibilities include answering the main telephone, transferring calls, taking accurate messages, keeping an appointment calendar when required, assist with documents, mail, email, special projects, collect and analyze data.
Other Requirements for the Position
A successful candidate will be professional, dress appropriately, punctual, reliable, accept work related guidance and be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, greet walk-in visitors and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, faculty and staff. Must be able to answer questions about college programs and make referrals to departments as necessary. Must be organized and available to work 15 hours or more per week.
