Job description

The Ohioan Hotel & Event Center (Formally Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center) located in Lewis Center, Ohio is searching for a Front Desk Supervisor to join our team!

Job Summary: 

The Front Desk Supervisor oversees the operations of the Front Desk at specific defined times. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs lead functions at the front desk at times of need to include but not limited to: stand-alone shifts, checking all paperwork from the previous day to make sure all items posted correctly, cover scheduled breaks for all front desk personnel for any particular shift and perform any front desk projects as assigned by Rooms Leadership team.
  2. Provides support and presence to other front desk associates when the Director of Operations or Operations Managers are absent.
  3. May assume the Property Supervisor on Duty role when necessary including guest recovery, cash handling, employee relations on designated shift, and necessary reporting.
  4. Assists in producing weekly schedule in any assigned areas that accommodates all guest needs.
  5. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  6. Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the departments’ goals and objectives.
  7. Responds to emergencies including after hour’s situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
  8. Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.
  9. Supervises department personnel including hiring/termination recommendations, planning / coordinating activities, training, advising, consulting, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
  11. Serves as a positive example for staff in regard to guest service and satisfaction.

 

Physical Requirements:

These physical demands represent the physical requirements necessary for an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the position.

  1. Position may require lifting lift up to 20 lbs. (supplies, furniture, etc.) occasionally.
  2. Position requires walking/ standing for extended periods of time.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Previous 1-2 years’ experience at a full service hotel or event center preferred.
  2. Required to perform math; read information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  3. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
  4. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
  5. Provide leadership and direction; mechanical aptitude; meeting schedules/deadlines; organizing; taking initiative.
  6. Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units.
  7. Opera Cloud preferred (not required).
